Many different countries have most shops and products the same. Some consider it a positive development, whereas others consider it negative. Discuss both sides and give your opinion.
In times of globalization nowadays, it is a common sight that there is an increasing ubiquity in the selections of products and shops in different parts of the world. While it is perceived as harmful by some people, others advocate this trend. This essay discusses both of these views in greater detail, before justifying my disapproval of having the same shops and products in various countries.
On the one hand, this development may do wonders for the experience of consumers. It stands to reason that many customers only stick to one brand of product for their whole life, so this trend obviously paves the way for convenience and consistent experience while they are in other countries. For example, people, when traveling abroad, can go to major convenient stores and seek their basic necessities that they would expect in their home countries. Since these products are globally distributed, the quality of products is still guaranteed as they all undergo the same manufacturing process, safety standards, and provisions. Therefore, shoppers can still enjoy their preferable products without being concerned about the product quality.
Despite the benefit of having the same shops and productions in many countries that is aforementioned, I am inclined towards the idea that the upside of this phenomenon is eclipsed by its downside for two main reasons. First and foremost, this may induce toxic and powerful monopolies of many corporations worldwide. Without a doubt, should the products of some companies prevail all around the world, these products may dominate and wreak havoc on other businesses. As a result, some enterprises may go bankrupt as their products are not exported due to the dominance of other products. Meanwhile, if the adoption of many products and shops is only limited to some nations, other companies will not have to suffer economic difficulties. They, consequently, stand a great chance of competing with one another, facilitating the economy of a certain country. Another drawback of this trend is that it may worsen the experience of foreign tourists when they visit other nations. Take, for example, Mixue, which is an omnipresent brand of ice cream. In Vietnam as well as other countries, various mixue shops are constructed every few months, so people can run into those shops in one way or another, no matter how they try to avoid these shops. This, in turn, frustrates and irritates foreigners in Vietnam as they are forced to have Mixue ice cream, which they already had in their home countries tons of times, instead of other choices. Meanwhile, if some products are not circulated widely, it allows others, especially tourists, to try new experiences in other countries.
In conclusion, disseminating the same products and shops globally has its own pros and cons. However, its merits pale in comparison with its demerits. Hence, I hold the firm belief that it is wiser for all businesses to spread their products to only a few countries rather than distributing them all over the world.
