Many governments think that economic progress is their most important goal Some people however think that other type of progress are equally important for a country Discuss both these views and give your own opinion

Governments believe that economic improvement is the most significant thing to consider. Some people, however, argue that governments have to pay equal attention to other matters. This essay will address both sides of the arguments and provide an opinion as a conclusion.

On the one hand, economic progress has been a goal for many governments in the world since when countries have improved their economic stabilities, other important sectors would eventually make some positive changes. Malaysia, for instance, is a niche example of this phenomenon. In the 1970s the government had to work hard to keep the nation's economy on track and was able to compete in the ASEAN region. These past works of the government bodies then were making some improvements in other sectors such as education and health, and both education quality and the national health status are accounted as the finest among the ASEAN countries. Thus, putting economic stability as the main goal of the nation's development may be the right choice.

However, the opposition of the argument believes that the government should not only prioritize the advance of countries' economies as their main goals. This is mainly because other aspects such as preparing and developing human resources to support the nation's economy are equally significant. If the nation had not had an adequate number of skilled workers to work in the economic sector, the nation's goal to be economically developed would have been unachieved. Take Japan as an example of this case. When Japan started to rebuild the country after the destruction in 1945, the first sector which was targeted to improve by the government was education. After some years, well-educated workers were ready, and Japan commenced to redevelop its economic stability and come back to the global economic market, and finally is becoming an economic power in the world.

To sum up, I believe that both economic stability and other sector are equally important to achieve the nation's goals. Thus, the governments have to pay similar attention to these sectors to ensure that the nation's economic improvement sustains and the nation’s goals are accomplished.
