The given map and graph below illustrate the global acceptness for eating insects and the ongoing prices for the available on the market. Overall, it can be seen from the first chart that Mexico has the highest level of willingness to eat insects, while Japan shows less readiness for insects products. Also, the prices for insects food are higher than other meats.
To begin with, the desire level of having an insect meal is fluctuated according to countries. Mexico comes first with %71. Followed by, Peru and Thailand with %58 and %56. While USA, Australia and Russia, they show less willingness to insects based products with %35, %34, and %32 sequentially. Comparing to Japan, only %21 of Japanese people prefer to have an insect product.
Regarding the second graph, per kilogram for insects is more expensive than other types of meat. For example, the price for weaver ant (wild) and bamboo Caterpillar (wild) are 10.65 and 10 usd dollar per kg. In contrast, beef is only for 3.03$ and one kg of buffalo is sold for 2.38$. Generally, the prices for insects products are 2.6$ for giant water bug (female, wild) , 3.67$ for field cricket( farmed & wild), and palm weevil (palm bred) is sell at 9.35$. Where the Rice (Thai hom mali) and Glutionus Rice are only for 0.78$ and 0.82$.
