The map shows changes between 1960 and now in the Station street
The two pictures compare the layouts of the Station street in two periods, namely 1960 and the present time. It is clear that there are considerable changes in the layout of this street over the period shown. The main modifications have included the removal of many local shops and the addition of a supermarket and a car park.
Looking at the changes in more detail, we can see that in 1960 there was a fish and chips in the northeast corner of the street, opposite a dry cleaner's. At present, however, this shop has been replaced by a cafe. In addition, many shops along the north side of the street including a book store, a toy, a bakery, and a DVD Rental store have been demolished to make way for a supermarket. The two maps also show that the pharmacy and the butcher in the top left corner of the street have been knocked down, creating space for a new car park. Furthermore, the grocery store in the bottom left has been turned into a hotel. The public telephone next to the grocery has also been removed in order to expand the railway station. Finally, The dry cleaner's in the southeast corner has remained
