The maps below show the centre of a small town called Islip as it is now, and plans for the development
The diagrams illustrate some planned changes to the center area of the small town of Islip.
Overall, it can be obviously seen that the principal change of the town will be the construction of the ring road around the center area, accompanied with the various newly-built facilities regarding shopping and housing.
Currently, there is a main road, which runs from the west to east area in the map, separating the town center into two parts. In the north part, the row of shops, being locating along the side of main road, will be demolished to make room for the new buildings known as bus station, shopping center and car park, as well as the expansion of the residential area to the north. Meanwhile, the shops, which are in the south side of the main road, will remain unchanged and the number of new housings will be emerged nearly to the park. In addition, only pedestrians will be allowed in the main road.
It can be seen obviously that the dual carriageway erected will connect the school in the west area to the park in the east one, which will be reduced in size to give way for the construction of this new two-lane road . Moreover, it will be more convenient for residents to approach the new building in the town center.
