the maps below show the village of Stokeford in 1930 and in 2010
The pictures illustrate how the village called Stokeford had been renovated from 1930 to 2010
Overall, it is apparent that farmland accounted for most of the village as well as few houses were built in Stokeford in 1930. However, throughout a period of 80 years, this village became more modernized and residential
In 1930, Stokefold consisted of 2 areas for agricultural activities, which were in the southwest and the northeast, along with a post office, a primary school, and shops. In the southeast of the map was situated a large house together with gardens. There was a river called Stoke running through the site and a main road connected these facilities and separated Stokeford into two sides
By 2010, with regard to accommodation systems, farmland, gardens, and shops had been demolished to make way for new blocks of flats on the eastern banks of the river. More streets were erected in terms of the transport network, branching off the major road to provide access to newly-built houses which were also lengthened along the leading road and parallel to the Stoke River. Meanwhile, the large house had been broadened and converted into a retirement home. In close proximity to the nursing home, the grade school’s size had doubled throughout the period surveyed. Moreover, the post office directly opposite the elementary school through the road remained intact
