The maps show the Grange park as it is today and as it was a century earlier.
The two maps present Grange park in its current state and the old one more than 100 years earlier.
Overall, the park space has been renovated to become considerably more entertaining, offering an enhanced amphitheatre for concerts, a cafe, so as a children’s play area. It has also improved logistically due to an extra entrance from the newly added car park that leads to yet another addition - a water feature.
Previously, the park consisted of the fountain, located between the entrances from Arnold avenue and Eldon street, with a stage for musicians to the left. This performance spot was surrounded by the four seat areas alternating with the two rose gardens. Adding more greenery to the site, the pond for water plants cornered the opposite side of the park, adjoining to the third garden for roses. On the right from the Eldon street enter point, there was a glasshouse and the fifth set of seats.
Presently, only the two main entries, streets’ names and one out of three spaces for flowers remained unaltered. The current set-up includes the aqua feature that replaced the old house made from glass. Adjacently positioned, there is an underground parking entrance that was created at the expense of the seating facilities. Additionally, the water plants pond was removed in favour of the playground for children, so as the third flower garden that was turned into a cafeteria. Nevertheless, the most notable change is the expansion of the music stage to become the amphitheatre for concerts. The fountain was taken out, while four of the seating spaces were rearranged and now frame the enlarged space with roses opposite to the performance scene.
