The two bar charts compare the percentage of people born in and outside Australia that reside in cities, towns, and rural areas in 1995 and 2010.
Looking from an overall perspective, it can be observed that most people (Australian-born and non-Australian-born) live in cities in 1995 and this figure still remained the same in 2010. Meanwhile, the number of residents (Australian-born and non-Australian-born) in the two remained areas decreased significantly during the given time period.
Beginning with the 1995 bar chart, it can be easily observed that cities had the highest population of native and non-native Australian, at 50% and 60% respectively. The proportion of Australian citizens who lived in towns was 20%, while the figure for those non-native Australian who resided in towns was only 10%. About 30% of citizens born in Australia stayed in rural areas and 40% of outsiders lived in those places.
Turning to the second bar chart, we can see that the gaps between the number of people (born in and outside Australia) who lived in cities and remained areas are very large. More than 60% of people born in Australia lived in cities, which was around 47% higher than those who lived in towns and rural areas. Moreover, up to 80% of people born outside Australia lived in big cities, while the rates of the non-Austrlain population who lived in towns and rural areas were less than 10%.
