Overall, it can be seen that over-grazing was the main reason of land damage in the worldwide, while European region was the most affected area globally.
Moving to detail, over-grazing was the main reason of land degradation, accounted more than a third. Followed by deforestation and over-cultivation involved approximately 30% of the damage. Moreover, unspecified causes contributed to a small number of degraded land.
In general, Europe was the most affected area of the degraded land. it was primarily caused by deforestation (9,8%). while over-cultivation and over-grazing involved in almost similar number of land damage causes (7.7% and 5.5% respectively). On the other hand, the main factor of land degradation in Oceania was over-grazing 11.3%, which is the highest number of land damage influence among all the regions. Meanwhile, deforestation accounted for 1.7% of the land damage. In addition, North America was the region that contributed least causes of land degradation.
