The pie chart below show the rate of online shopping sales for retail sector in New Zealand in 2003 and 2013
The pie chart reveal the discrepancy in online shopping sales for retail sector in New Zealand over decade. In general, there were significant increases in some sectors, such as books, clothes, flim and music but the travel sector went down remarkably.
First of all, It is obvious that travel sector gain 36% of the total online sales over the time period. It was the majority of online sale in New Zealand in 2003. However, in 2013, a drop of 7% resulted in the same sector becoming category with the second biggest proportion of total online sales. The clothes's sale was a second major sector which accounted for 24% of total sales but It had a significant plummet to 16%, approximately in 2013.
Secondly, in 2013, the figure of film and music only reached 21% of the overall sales however it rose dramatically to 33% in 2013 and become the category with biggest proportion of the sector. A relatively small proportion of online sales was for books (19%) in 2013 which was slightly lower than in 2013 ( 22%)
