The pie chart explains why agricultural land becomes less productive. The table depicts the affection caused to three regions of the world during the 1990s.
Overgrazing is the main cause of worldwide land degradation while Europe accounts for the highest of all land degraded.
Oceania has the most land which is degraded by overgrazing, followed by Europe with 5,5%. North America is the third in the rank with the least land. Overcultivation is the second main cause to degrade the land with the largest amount of land focused in Europe. There is no land which is degraded in Oceania but there is still land in North America which is degraded by the same cause.
Deforestation accounts for 30% of the reason which degraded the worldwide land with the largest amount of land in Europe (9,8%). There is hardly any land which is degraded by the same cause in North America but that of the Ocenia is nearly 1/9 as much as that of the Europe. The other reason causing land to degrade accounts for only 7%.
