The pie chart below shows the main reasons why agricultural land becomes less productive The table shows how these causes affected three regions of the world during the 1990s Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.
The charts illustrate the effects of agricultural land degradation in different parts of the world.
Overall, it can be seen that the main cause for the reduction of farming areas all over the world was over-gazing and Europe suffered the most among regions.
The pie chart gave off three main causes for the decrease of agricultural land. Over-gazing was the biggest reason for this trend, giving that 35% of the globe’s farming surface was damaged because of it. The second-biggest cause of land reduction was deforestation, which took a proportion of 30%. Another reason leading to this condition was over-cultivation, devastating a large amount of farming area.
As mentioned, Europe witnessed a loss of 23% from their farming area, mostly from deforestation. In addition, only 5% of the cultivating area in North America was damage; over a half of which was because of over cultivation. Contrasting to the amount of land that was degraded by over-exploiting in other regions, the Oceania-South Pacific islands saw no damage made by this tendency; however, they were badly affected by over-gazing.
