The pie chart illustrates the inducements of global land degradation whilst the table demonstrates impact of these causes on three continents in the 1990s.
Overall, the main reasons consist of deforestation, over-cultivation and over-grazing beside other unspecific reason. The data was collected based on analysis of three regions of the globe which were North America, Europe and Oceania.
The highest figure was over-grazing which contributed 35 percent to the given problem and the proportion was roughly one third in Oceania compared to world’s figure. Next, the worldwide deforestation’s percentage was 5 less than the biggest factor. The Old World was the leader of this cause with 7.7 percent, whereas the figure of Oceania was absolutely zero.
Over-cultivating was the final factor which brought about 28 percent to land degradation and Europe kept holding the first position with 9.8 percent outweighed the rest regions.
In summary, it was no surprise as the percentage of debasement was biggest in Europe by 23, following was North America and Oceania by 13 and 5 respectively.
