The Pie Charts illustrate what percentage of electricity was produced from three main sources namely thermal, nuclear and renewable in Germany and France in 2009. It also provides data on 5 subtypes of renewable electric generation.

Overall, Germany produced more electricity than France in 2009. Why conventional thermal accounted for the majority of electric production in Germany, reference preferred nuclear power as the main source. Furthermore, Biomass and hydroelectricity were the major contributor to renewables in Germany and France respectively.

In terms of total electricity production, the German depended mainly on conventional thermal type with figure of almost three fifth of total at 59.6%. Raised two fifth of power was created by nuclear and renewable type with value of 23 and 17.4%. On the other hand, around three fourth of electricity was generated by nuclear sources in France. Remaining 24% was created from thermal and renewable with thermal being the least of all at 10.3%.

With respect to different kind of renewables comma almost three quarter energy came from Biomass and wind in Germany, whereas 80.5% of French renewables comprised hydroelectric generation of energy. Surprisingly, solar power was the least utilized renewable in both nations with 6.1% and 0.9% in Germany and France respectively. In addition, both the countries had no provision for harvesting electricity from geothermal currents.
