The pie charts compare the proportions of spending on different items in the USA from 1966 to 1996.

Overall, It is clear that American citizens spent mostly on food while the least expenditure went to computers over the period

In terms of minor changes, There was hardly any change in expenditure on food over between 1996 and 1996 with the proportion increased by 1% from 44%.Additionally, The proportions of restaurant and petrol spendings were 7% and 9% respectively. While a rise by 3% was witnessed in the figure for restaurants, that of petrol slightly declined to 8%.

Regarding remarkable changes, expenditure on cars saw the biggest changes with a nearly three-fold decrease from the initial figure of 23%. In contrast, the figure for books doubled from 6% to14%.

However, there were equivalences in the percentages of computers and furniture with 1% and 10% respectively within three decades from 1966.
