It is clearly seen that people in both regions spent most of their money on housing, food and other goods. On contrary, the expenditure on clothing and transport only accounts for a small part.
In the UK, other goods ranked first in the portion of the household spending, with 36%. While in Hong Kong, obviously more citizens were willing to spent a major part of their money on housing (32%), which was 14% more than that in Britain. The food expenditure in Britain and Hong Kong counts for 22% and 27%, respectively.
On the other hand, the expenditure on transport in Britain was 17%, just 1% lower than housing. But this figure saw a relatively small percentage in Hong Kong, which was 9%. Clothing expense was in the last place in both regions, accounting a percentage of 7% in Britain and 4% in Hong Kong.
