The pie charts below show the spending of a school in the UK from 1981 to 2001.
The three pie charts compare the proportion of expenditure on five categories (teachers’ salaries, furniture and equipment, resources, other workers’ salaries and insurance) of a school located in the UK in 1981, 1991 and 2001.
Overall, the majority of money each year was spent on teachers’ salaries whereas the least on insurance. Other workers’ salaries, and resources’ expenditure decreased over the period given. On the other hand, expenditure on furniture and equipment, and insurance overall increased.
In regard of teachers’ salaries, they grew 10% reaching a peak of 50% of the overall expenditure in 1991 but then decreased to 45%. As for insurance, it was merely 2% of the whole budget in 1981 but increased to 8% in the final year. Likewise, there was 8% growth in the money spent on furniture and equipment in the school’s outlay over the 20 year time period.
In 1981 other worker’s salaries accounted for 28% of the spending, then continually decreased to a low of 15% in 2001. Turning to resources, the expenditure grew for 5% between the first year and 1991 but then dropped to 9% in the last year.
