Primary funding sources

Essay topics:

Primary funding sources

The given chart compares the numbers of foreign students in the U.S. and the percentages of money they received from six different sources in two school years, 2003/04 and 2013/14.
It is noticable that over the given decade, the number of international students studying in the U.S.’s universities significantly increased. And the most popular funding source for those student was either from themself or their family.
In the school year 2003/04, there were around 57000 exotic students attending universities in the U.S. The proportion of students who received financial supports from their family was 67%, almost threefold higher compared to the figure for the second popular source of funding, which came from U.S College or University.
After a decade, the total number of international students in the U.S. increased by 55%, stood at over 880000. Similarly, two major financial resources were still derived from either those students’ families or their colleges, together accounted for 84%. Meanwhile, there was a nearly fourfold increase in figures for oversea students who received funding from foreign government or university or from their employments. Even though, those numbers for both these sources only took up around 7% respectively in the year 2013/14.
