Some people think that it is a waste of time for high school students to study literature, such as novels and poems. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
It is argued that many students in high school spend more time to study literature such as novels and poems, which are little or no value at all. I personally believe that students should only learn novels and poems if they are really motivated to follow this field.
There are several reasons why people believe that learning novels and poems are not practical and useful in children’s future. Firstly, a few of careers is require skills which can analyze or criticize literary works. Because most employers demand employee to have practical skills or knowledge relate to science or economic fields. Secondly, literature taught in high school tend to out of date and not relate to reality. Some novels and poems are written in the past. Therefore, not too much knowledge gain could be used for working purposes.
In my opinion, I totally believe that literature have the value for children. The main reason is that skills gained in literature classes are more essential for working as in other any subject. It is not doubt that the ability to use written and spoken language is important for communication in all aspect of life. Moreover, knowledge of prose and poetry gives the student the opportunity to show the talents. Understanding knowledges in literature lessons, students can pay attention to their talents and go to study at the literary faculty.
In conclusion, some people think that literature is an unnecessary subject. But I believe that learning novels and poems helps students develop their language ability and improve their talents.
