The table illustrates the information about average distance in miles travelled by per person per year with different modes of travel in England in between 1985 to 2000.
Firstly, in 1985, person used to walk 255 miles but it reduced to 237 miles. Whereas, 51 miles covered with bicycle but it decreased to 10 miles per person in 15 years. Furthermore, 3199 miles were covered by car while, with the time use of cars had been went up to 4806 miles. However, 429 miles travelled per person by local bus but in 2000, approximately half distance declined by this mode.
Secondly, in 1985, people travelled less to long distance by bus which was only 54 miles while this distance increased to 125 miles. Moreover, nearly same distance covered by train in both year which was in between 280 miles to 380 miles. There was no significant change can be seen for taxi. While, other modes of travel was quite popular in England and 450 miles and 585 miles had been travel by this category in 1985 and 2000 respectively.
Overall, car, walking, local bus train were more popular while bicycle and taxi were less in trend in both year.
