The table illustrates the details of different genres of films released in the UK and Republic of Ireland in 2012.
Overall, it is clearly seen that comedy films were the most profitable films during the period. In addition it can be seen that Drama and Documentaries got less revenue, eventhough they had high releases.
To begin, in 2012 out of the 148 total releases 70 of them were Drama and Documentaries, together they constituted around 47.6% of all releases out of the 100%. But the revenue from their ticket sales were low Drama(8.3%) and Documentaries(2.9%). Only 1 bipic film was released during the period, however, it earned around 10% in ticket sales. A total of 11 crime and action movies were released, the revenue from ticket sales were below 5% for these.
Comedy(26 releases) and horror(14 releases) movies had the highest gross collection, 45.4% and 20.2% from ticket sales, the proportion of releases were 17.6 for comedy and 9.5 for horror. The number of releases for Thriller, Romance and other types of films were around 26.among the three other type of movies earned 3.2% from tickets sales, however for the other two, the earnings were below 1.5%.
