The assigned tabular chart compares the weekly consumption of two types of milk and butter in four descending age groups in one European country.
It is clear that milk consumption increased continuously with age, as did butter consumption in the lower three age groups. The last age group saw a sharp decline in butter consumption compared to the preceding group. Furthermore, the figures show varying proportions of two types of milk and butter (full fat and low fat) consumption in different age groups.
The youngest age group under 25 years accounted for the minority proportion in milk consumption with a figure of 1200ml, while the oldest age group beyond 65 years contributed the most milk consumption with a figure of 1900ml, followed by the age groups between 45 and 65 years with a figure of 1670ml. The age group between 26 and 45 years had a similar consumption compared to the age group 45 to 65 years. While the figures show moderately different preferences for full fat and low fat in the youngest group and the 45 to 65 years age group, both were nearly 50%. The oldest group and the 25 to 45 years age group have a strong preference for low-fat milk, at 80% and 70%, respectively.
Ages between 45 and 65 constitute the highest consumption in butter, with a figure of 60g, approximately double the amount consumed by the oldest group. The age group between 26 and 45 was the third-largest consumer of butter, with a figure of 19g, while the youngest group only consumed 12g of butter each week. In the meantime, the youngest group preferred full-fat over low-fat, which is opposite to the preference of ages between 26 and 45. Ages beyond 45 showed the same preference for full-fat and low-fat butter.
