The table below shows the amount of waste production (in millions of tonnes) in six different countries over a twenty-year period.
What is compared in the supplied chart is how much junk was manufactured by six distinct nations in the years 1980, 1990 and 2000.
In each of three years, the U.S produced more waste than Ireland, Japan, Korea, Poland, and Portugal combined. Also noteworthy is the fact that Korea was the only country that managed to cut down on its debris output by the year 2000.
Between 1980 and 2000, the U.S.A witnessed a leap in waste production from just 131 to well above 190 million tons, and rising trends were also seen in Japan, Poland, and Portugal. Furthermore, there was substantial growth in Japan’s rubbish output, between 28 and 53 million tonnes, whereas Poland and Portugal performed an astounding climb, from 4 to 6.6 and 2 to 5 million tonnes in turn.
The trends for Ireland and Korea were noticeably dissimilar from those described above. In Ireland, unwanted things were found to reach an acceleration more than eightfold, standing at just beneath one million tonnes from 1980 and ending with exactly 5 million tonnes in 2000. Korea, by contrast, cut its waste materials by twelve million tonnes between 1990 and 2000.
