By 2000, while Korea tended to cut its waste to 19 million tonnes, the waste of Japan went up gradually to 53 million tonnes.
Between 1980 and 2000, waste production slowly increased, in Poland and Portugal, from 4 to 6.6 and from 2 to 5 million tonnes, respectively. From 1980 to 1990, the waste of Ireland decreased slightly from 0.6 million tonnes to zero. By 2000, although the production rose to the same number as Portugal, this level still was the lowest point.
