The table below shows the amount of waste production (in millions of tonnes) in six different countries in three different years over a twenty-year period.
The amount of waste produced measured in millions of tonnes by six different countries in 1980, 1990, and 2000 is provided in the table below.
Overall, all countries revealed an increasing trend in waste production except Korea. In addition, US produced the biggest waste over a twenty-year period.
To begin, US made up the biggest amount of waste production at 131 million of tonnes in 1980, followed by Japan with 28. While escalating trends had been showed in those countries, accounting for 192 and 53 respectively by 2000, Korea successfully reduced their waste production from 31 in 1990 to 19 in 2000.
Apart from the previous comparison, Ireland produced the least amount of waste with 0,6 in 1980. Although the data was no available in 1990, waste production in such country had increased to 5 by 2000, the same amount with Portugal’s figure. In addition, the figure for Poland experienced a rise during the period from 4 to 6,6.
