Overall, it can be seen that there was an upward trend in all categories except for the average nights per visit which experienced a slight decrease.
Turning to detail, in 2003, the number of visitors in the UK was about 24,7 million and the average spending was 11-pound billion, which was the lowest figure in the table. There was a significant increase in the visitors numbers and the expense to 27 million and 13 pounds billion, respectively in 2004. In the following year, the UK attracts nearly 30 million people came to visit and receive about 14 pounds billion.
In addition, from 2006 to 2008 the number of visitors increased slightly, approximately 32 million and reached the peak at 32,778 million in 2007 despite some dropping in the last year. Meanwhile, the expenditure fluctuated at around 16-pound billion. The average spend per visit increased gradually to 511 whereas the average night per visit dropped from 8,4 to 7,7 in the last 2 years.
