The table below shows the percentage of the population by age groups in one town who rode bicycles in 2011.
The table compares the proportion of people in one town who cycled in 2011, broken down into five age groups: 0-9, 10-17, 18-39, 40-59, 60+.
In general, the percentage of females who rode bicycles is higher than that of males in all ages. In addition, both genders between the ages of 18 and 59 have lower percentages than other age groups.
Slightly over half of all females and males cycled in the age group 0-9. This remained high in females aged 10-17, at about 42%. However, the percentage for the males in that same age group had fallen sharply from slightly more than half to just under 25%.
There is a significant decline for male and female cyclists in the age groups 18-59. The values from these two age groups are also the lowest compared to the others. They fell to just under 20% and under 10% for males and females.
In contrast, the proportion of cyclists aged 60+ then rose significantly, especially for females. Their respective values are a bit over 18% and a bit over 13%.
