The table below shows the salaries of secondary/high school teachers in 2009
The table gives information about how much high school teachers earned in different five countries in 2009.
In general, teachers were the most highly paid in Luxembourg while Australian teachers are paid lower salaries than in other countries in 2009. It can be seen that both in Australia and Denmark, teachers spent the least time to have the maximum wages.
Teachers in Australia started their job with the lowest pay, at only 28,000 while those who had 15 years of experience earned 48,000. Nearly 40,000 more 15-year-experience teachers than newcomers were paid in Luxembourg, at 80,000 and 119,000. This figure is much higher than in other regions. The salaries of experienced teachers who were in Korea, Denmark, and Japan accounted for 48,000, 54,000, and 62,000 respectively.
In terms of maximum salary and time to reach it, teachers in both Japan and Luxembourg earned the highest wage and spent more than 30 years to gain. In contrast, it took both Australian and Denmark teachers 8 to 9 years to reach the maximum salary.
