The table depicts the data about socio-economic levels for Canada, Japan, Peru and Zaire in 1994 in accordance with United Nations statistics.
According to the table, annual incomes of $15 760 and $11 100 per person in Japan and Canada respectively, were overwhelmingly greater than the same ones in Peru ($160) and in Zaire ($130). The health indicators, such as life expectancy at birth, were higher in more economically developed countries. For instance, 78 years was reported in Japan as the highest rate, following by Canada (76), Peru (51) and Zaire (47).
The amount of calories ingested daily per person for each Canadian was 3 326 calories while in Japan people took 2846 calories per capita. Meanwhile in Peru and Zaire these figures were 1927 and 1749, respectively. Regarding literacy rates among adults, Canada and Japan both reported literacy rates of 99%, while Peru registered 68% and Zaire, had a literacy rate of just over one third.
