Overall, the number of passenger vehicles in registration was always the highest over the period shown. Also, the figures for all five types of vehicles registered followed an upward trend in all 3 years.
Looking at the chart in more detail, we can see that 11, 800, 000 passenger vehicles were registered in Australia while commercial vehicles were the second popular type of vehicle with 2, 300, 000. In the meantime, the figure for motorcycles and heavy trucks was 540, 000 and 384, 000, much higher than that of light trucks with 106, 000.
Over the following 4 years, the number of passenger vehicles registered rose to 13, 000, 000, the highest figure shown on the table. Similarly, the highest rate of increase belonged to motorcycles with 30, 8%, followed by light trucks. Meanwhile, this period witnessed gradual growth in the number of commercial vehicles and heavy trucks, at 17. 4% and 8. 3%, correspondingly.
