The provided table illustrates the changes in the forested land areas measured in hectares in the six parts of the world in fifteen years from 1990 to 2005.
At first glance, the number of hectares in forests in Europe ranked first at both the beginning and the end of this period, which started at 989 million in 1990 and stood at 1001 million in 2005. In contrast, the amount of forested area in Oceania occupied the last, moreover, it still dipped in 2005.
As can be seen from the table, the figure for the area of forest in Africa grew considerably by a margin of 58 million hectares in 1990-2005 period.
