The table illustrates the total revenue from complementary medicine in three years, in addition to that, it also shows the proportion of US hospitals, which use the medicine over twenty five years, then, classified by its popularity in 2012. Overall, throughout 2011 until 2016, the revenue kept raising and complementary medicine gave 14.3 billion US dollars as 2016 revenue, which known as the highest amount.
In 1985, only around 2% of hospitals used complementary medicine. The percentage measurement increased steadly until 2000, with more than 10% of hospitals. Then, the percentage rose rapidly to exactly 30% in 2005. Extreme raise of percentage kept continue after 5 years, make it the year with highest amount of hospitals, which was 40%.
Then, the medicine was being classified into 9 different types. Among all of those, natural products were the most popular one with nearly 18%, followed with deep breathing and yoga, which had similar measurement ( just above 10% and exactly 10% respectively ). Chiropractic, meditation, and massage came in between of the most popular and least one. Lastly, the remaining types are the least common medicines ( special diets, homeopathy, and guided imagery ), with all of it, had less than 3%.
