The tables below give information about sales of Fairtrade-labelled coffee and bananas in 1997 and 2004 in five European countries.
The given tables illustrate the amount of money spent on fairtrade coffee and bananas in the two separate years in five different European nations namely the uk, switzerland, denmark, belgium, and sweden.
it can be seen that all nations saw an upward trend in sales of fairtrade coffee from 1999 to 2000, but sales of fairtrade bananas went up in three out of the five countries. it is noticeable that the uk was the highest spending on two products by far.
In 1999, switzerland had the highest sales of fairtrade coffee with 3 million euros, while revenue from fairtrade banana was the highest in the uk, at 15 million euros. By 2004, the number of money spent on fairtrade coffee in the uk significantly rose to 20 million euros and this was higher three times than switzerland sales figures for fairtrade coffee. Aditionally, we can saw a dramatic increases in the uk and switzerland in fairtrade bananas, with revenue risen by 32 and 4,5 million euros respectively.
sales of the two products saw by far lower in denmark, belgium, and sweden. Small increase can be seen in fairtrade coffee, but revenue still remained at 2 million or below in all three nations in both years. it is clear that the sales of fairtrade bananas was dropped in belgium and sweden
