task 1: the consumption of Beef, Lamb over the period of 25 years
The line graph illustrates the consumption of four different food groups in a European nation from 1979 to 2004.
Overall, it is clear that while the consumption of Beef, Lamb, and Fish decreased, there was an upward trend in the amount of Chicken consumed over the 25-year period. Additionally, the figure for Fish was by far lowest during the research given.
In 1979, there were over 200 grams in the consumption of Beef per person per week and then decreased gradually to about 170 grams in next decade. At the same time, The figure for Lamb and Chicken were lower at exactly 150 grams and under 150 grams respectively in 1979. Although the spending on Beef varied considerably, it experienced a significant decrease by 70 grams, ending at 100 grams in 2004.
After the period of 25 years, the consumption of Chicken went up dramatically before reaching the highest point of the whole line graph, at almost 250 grams a person a week in 2004. By contrast, the number for Lamb declined sharply to roughly 50 grams at the end of the period. In addition, Fish was the least popular food with only 60 grams eaten in 1979. The figure then fell slightly throughout the period to nearly 50 grams per person each week in 2004.
