The given pie charts compare the differences of annual expenditure in a particular English school in 1981, 1991 and 2001.Overall, a considerable amount of money was used for paying teachers while the insurance constituted the least portion of total expenses throughout the surveyed period.
First of all, in 1981, teachers’ salaries were the highest spending as it accounted for 40% of the total. Other workers’ salaries took the second place by making up 28%, almost twice times more than that on resources and furniture and equipment, which both equally constituted 15%. The most insignificant cost was insurance, only representing 2% in that year.
In the following decades, the expenditure on teachers’ salary continually played the major role by first increased its proportion to 50% in 1991 and then slightly decreased to 45% in 2001. A similar trend was also experienced by the rate of resources (e.g. books) with the ended up at 9% in 2001. By contrast, an opposite trend was showed in the category of furniture and equipment for it eventually grew to 23% after 20 years. Moreover, the portion of other workers’ salary almost halved its share to 15% while insurance costs quadrupled to 8% in the same period.
