Write a narrative essay about someone or something that influenced you.
Maybe we all have some events which affect our life a lot. These things can make us learn many lessons and become better. To me, that thing is the time when I started to study at university in Cần Thơ city.
When I graduated from high school and begin to study in a place outside my hometown, it was really the special time. I had never lived alone without my parents for a long time like this time before. The first day I stayed in a dormitory room in Cần Thơ University, almost everything is strange to me. I need to live with 5 people whom I did not know. Honestly, I am not good at talking to strangers, so it is rather confusing during some first days. Beside this, I also have to get familiar with the food in the canteen. I do not think this food is really good, but I have to eat it because of the convenience. Going out to have lunch after morning classes is not a good idea for me. In addition, the ways in Cần Thơ city is another problem. I got lost many times during the first time in this city. Google Map did not work well as I expected. It took me much time to travel through the ways before arriving a place. Above all, the biggest challenge here is that I must do everything by myself. When my parents cannot stay with me always, I must make decisions on my own as well as find the ways to solve my problems. This sudden change causes me many difficulties. I ought to think carefully about a thing so that I can find a solution as good as possible.
However, this stage also taught me some lessons which had changed my mind. Because of living with strangers, I know how to live properly and get on well with my roommates. After a few first days, we became friends quickly and helped each other a lot since then. Also, I gradually became more confident. I can talk to stranger to ask something or make friends with many people at the first met. Lastly, I can handle my problems by thinking thoroughly about them. Receiving advice from the others is another important thing which I had learned through this stage.
There are many special periods in my life but the first time in an unfamiliar place like that definitely is the most important one. Through these days, I become better than I can expect. Even though the difficulties struggled me much, they also taught me a lot. Thanks to this experience, I learned how to improve myself from the new things.
