The graph below shows the consumption of fish and some different kinds of meat in a European country between 1979 and 2004.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.
(Write at least 150 words)
The line graph compares the amount of several kinds of meat consumed by each European per week during the period of 25 years from 1979. Each unit is measured in grams.
Overall, while there was a general downward trend in the consumption of beef, lamb, and fish, the opposite was true for that of chicken.
In fact, the quantity of beef stood at over 200 in 1979, which was 150 higher than that of fish. Similarly, a slight decrease in the utilization of both beef and fish was recorded in the first 2 years. However, the amount of beef saw a wild fluctuation between a high of under 250 and a low of over 100; whereas, the quantity of fish remained stable at around 50 throughout the remainder of the period.
Another striking feature is that chicken and lamb witnessed a contrast tendency. By the end of 2004, chicken figures boomed by over 100 and hit the peak at 250. Meanwhile, the figure for lamb declined significantly from exactly 150 in 1979 to 50 in 2004- which was the lowest point in all time.
