The line chart below shows the results of a survey giving the reasons why people moved to the capital city of a particular country.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Write at least 150 words.
The line graph sets out key motivations for people relocating to the capital city throughout the period of 4 years: 2000, 2005, 2010 and 2015. The overall trend is an increase in each of the reasons, with career and study purposes being the more dominating factors.
According to the graph, the main reason for relocation was employment. In 2000, 60,000 citizens left for work in the capital city. This number continued to grow until it reached its peak in 2010 at approximately 92000 before slightly decreasing to roughly 88000 at the end of the period.
Notably, this category is the only one of the four that experienced a downturn. Moving in pursuit of academic purposes observed a more straightforward pattern and also the greatest rise overall, beginning with 25000 people in 2000 then skyrocketing to the joint-highest in 2015 with 88000 people. It can be seen that relationship and adventure reasons for relocation share a resemblance in pattern, starting at 10000 in the first 5 years, then gently climbing to around 22000 and 13000 respectively in 2010. Eventually, the number of citizens relocating for “adventure" purposes stayed at 15000 while the figures for those who move for their family and friends leveled off at around 23000 at the end of the period.
