The pie charts illustrate how a UK school spent its money on different categories in three years 1981, 1991 and 2001.
Overall, it can be seen that while the amount of money paid to teachers accounted for the largest proportions in all three years, the opposite was true for the spending on insurance.
In 1981, teacher’s salaries occupied 40% of the total spending, which experienced a 10-percent increase a decade later before dropping to 45% in 2001. A similar pattern was observed in the figure for resources such as books, as it increased by 5% between 1981 and 1991 and dropped to 9% in 2001. However, spending for furniture and equipment, after the first 10-percent decline, increased nearly five times to stand at 23%.
Insurance originally accounted for insignificant proportions of the school’s expenditure in 1981 and 1991, but increased nearly three-fold to 8% by the beginning of the 2000s. In contrast, the money spent on payment for other workers steadily declined throughout 30 years with a net loss of 8%.
