The chart compares how two groups with different incomes in an European country distributed their earnings to various items on a monthly basis. Overall, the low-icome group spent the most on digestibles and fuel, while recreational activies and miscellanous constitue of a significant part of the high-income group’s expenses.
As is observed from the data, the low-income group spent a remarkable proportion of their wages on cosmetibles and fuel, 29% and 24% respectively. In total, the two accounted for a half of the group’s monthly expenses. By contrast, the high-income group spent relatively little on these two categories. Fiftten percent of this group’s income was spent on victuals, and a negligible 7% on fuel. It was noticable that the people who earned more allocated a large amount to recreational and cultural activities, 21% of their earnings, in proprotion to 10% by the low-income group. Likewise, there was a 8% discrepancy between the wealthier’s expenditure on restaurant and hotels and that of people with a tighter budget.
A striking similarity is both two group spent a remarked amount on miscellanous things, approximately 20% of their income A moderate amount of income was spent on transpotation by both the high earners and the less productive ones , 16% and 9% respectively. They also allocated a similarly miniscule percentage, below 8% to clothing.
