The two charts illustrate the possession of electrical components in washing machines, refrigerator, vacuum cleaner, and time-consuming housekeeping in a region during 1920 - 2019.
Overall, there had been an upward trend in the proportion of electrical appliances, whereas, amount of times in doing chores had a significant downward over 99 years, from 1920 - 2019.
It is clear that electrical appliances are over 50 per cent from 1920 to 1940, and continuing to considerable rise to 90 per cent of the refrigerator, in which, washing machine and vacuum cleaner mixed up to 70 per cent. However, the washing machine saw a slightly downward about 65 per cent in 1980, while the refrigerator reached the peak of 100 per cent, similar to a vacuum cleaner at 90 per cent in 1980. The following 39 years saw a rapid climb to refrigerator and vacuum cleaner, followed by stability remain at 100 per cent of both, in which, a washing machine was a steadily rise by 10 per cent from 1980 to 2019.
In contrast to the time-consuming housework, there was a dramatic decline by 30 hours per week over the period of 20 years from 1920 to 1940. After that, a gradual fall to 15 hours in 2000 hit the lowest point at 10 hours in 2019.
