Before us, there is a line graph that illustrates the average emissions of carbon dioxide per capita, in four different countries in Europe, during a forty year period, between 1967 until 2007.
Overall, the main polluting country is the United Kingdom, during the whole studied period. While, in the other hand, the one that produce the least emissions is Portugal, which is joined by Sweden in 2007.
First of all, the UK in 1967 contribute to air pollution with more than 10 metric tonnes of co2. Although this values gradually decrease over time, after 40 years still remains above 8 tonnes. In Sweden we can see a different picture, starting by an increase in the first 10 years, the followed by a sharp decrease afterwards, until reach levels less than 6 tonnes in 2007, similar with values presented by Portugal.
In contrast, Italy the tendency is the opposite, starting low at approximately 4 tonnes but a progressive increase leads to the second place in the ones that most pollutes. Moreover, in Portugal, although it begins on the bottom with only one tonne, the overall increase makes a rise until more than 5, joining in the end with Sweden.
