Many sports players advertised in sports products. Do you think the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?
Many sporting companies advertise their products with the help of famous sports personalities. Though this strategy helps to increase the sales of sports products, on the other hand, puts sporting companies under a lot of financial burdens. In my opinion marketing of sports products by sports, players help in establishing the brand value in the market and thus helps in revenue generation for the company.
Firstly sporting events like cricket, soccer and tennis are gaining immense popularity so is the use of sports products. Despite the fierce competition among established brands new startups are venturing in the market due to the immense potential of churning out profits and thus the strategy of promoting their products through popular sports people is getting adopted. When a famous sports person gets associated with a product it entices people to buy that product due to their huge fan following. In a recent survey done by Time of India, it was published that a startup bat manufacturing company "The Spartan" made immense profits after getting associated with Indian cricketer MS Dhoni moreover its gave global visibility to the product thus the same product is being sold in many countries.
On the other side, we can see that famous celebrities are charging enormous amount of money for promoting sports product which puts start-up brands under a lot of financial burdens thus affecting the risk financial exposure for the startup companies in case the product doesn’t do well in the market. In the recent past, many startup companies have become bankrupt due to such high risk-taking strategies according to a recent survey done by The Reuters.
To conclude even though there are some drawbacks associated with sports product promotion but I staunchly can say there are many advantages which aid the promotion and sales of the sports products thus advantages clearly overshadow the drawbacks.
