On the other hand, every other language was shared less than 9% in decreasing order, Japanese, Chinese, German, Spanish, Korean, Italian, French, Portuguese, and Dutch. The lowest proportion related to Dutch speakers which are 2.1%. The other unlisted languages altogether accounted for less than 10%.
Moreover, the number of online users was 76 million in 1997 and accounted for 1,8% of the world population. These figures were doubled in 1998 and reached 147 million and 3,6%, respectively. This number exponentially increased and the online user numbers rose to 513 million and 8,4% in 2001.
