Essay topics:

Recently you saw an article in a newspaper/journal about a city/town you know and some of the information in the article was incorrect. Write a letter to the editor regarding this.

In your letter, you should tell:

how you know about this city/town
what information was incorrect
what the editor should do about this.

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to bring your attention to the incorrect information published about Nabha town in your daily newspaper, The Times.

As for how I am familiar with this town, I would like to tell you that I was born and brought up there in Nabha, and I often visit there to meet my parents. As I spent almost two decades there, I witnessed the expansion and development of this town very closely.

In the article in question, a journalist called Steve McAdam wrote about the infrastructure of this small town and particularly mentioned that students have to go out of town to pursue higher education due to no educational facilities in the area. On the contrary, there is a well-equipped government-funded college there, which was established in 1950.

Because this article conveys misinformation to readers, may I suggest you publish the retraction. I sincerely hope that a news agency like yours, which is well-respected for its news coverage would undertake not to repeat these types of errors, which could mislead readers.

I look forward to seeing you take prompt action in this regard.

Yours faithfully,
Ell
