Nowadays, young people tend to work or travel for a year between finishing high school and starting university studies. This trend clearly has both the advantages and disadvantages for young people who decide to do this.
To begin with, we will start discussing the advantages of this trend. One advantage is that it would help people learn how to manage your finances better so that they will know to save and allocate budget for various activities. Another advantage is that it would cultivate some soft skills for people. If you have some soft skills, then it will make a good impression with the employer. Last but not least, this trend makes people have a great time for life. They will have many unforgettable memories if they use the gap year right way.
On the other hand, there are some obvious disadvantages that would arise. First, a distraction from further studies may happen with people have a gap year. Some young people find that enjoyable and relaxing so that they decide to stop further studies. Secondly, the student who has a gap year may have a problem to readapt to an academic environment. They feel is better to continue a particular than a university course. Lastly, taking a gap year is a risk for many reasons. You can lose more than what you get from a gap year, but ultimately, it’s down to you.
In conclusion, there are plus point to this trend regard advantages one, two and three. However, we should think carefully about the disadvantage of it when we decide.
