Some parents believe that reading books for entertainment is a waste of time for children and they think that their children should only read serious educational books.
What is your opinion?
Books are an important source of knowledge. Some parents nowadays believe that children should only study serious educational material as reading books of entertainment is a waste of time. I totally disagree with this statement. In my opinion, reading books of entertainment not only rejuvenate mind but also imbibes intelligence in young children.
Firstly reading serious education books can reduce the creativity of the adolescents hence affecting their performance. As per a recent study was done by McLaren university children, it was published that juveniles who had entertainment books like comics, stories as a part of their curriculum performed better in tertiary exams as compared to adolescents who studied only educational books. Additionally, it was also noticed that adolescents who had a mixed curriculum of books which included educational, as well as entertaining content, were more eager to learn.
Secondly, entertainment books like comics, stories and puzzle solvers narrate educational content through vivid ways. Although the teaching mechanism is different from serious books however they deliver the same message. For instance, puzzle solving books help increase the aptitude of the juveniles from a tender age which helps them to score higher in competitive examinations. Similarly, comic and story book act a source of entertainment and rejuvenate the mind of the student when they feel bored hence helping them to concentrate on studies better. In recent research on adolescents attending to tertiary education, it is mentioned that around 80 per cent of children who cracked competitive examination were those who studied puzzle solving books.
To sum up, entertainment books play a pivotal role in providing valuable information to children and hence parents should encourage their kids to study such books as it helps them in achieving professional success.
