The table below depicts the how many visitors used three main British airports in the period of 5 years from 1998 to 2003. Overall, there was an increase of people in Gatwick and Stansted airport and a fluctuation of Heathrow airport over the period
In the beginning, Gatwick airport started the highest rate with 36.5 million people, following by 17.3 million people in Stansted airport at the same year. In the next years, visitors in Gatwick and Heathrow airport increased dramatically. Especially, the numbers of people who using Gatwick airport continued to grow at the end of the period exactly 69.3 million people. Having increased to 43.3 in 2001, the numbers of people in Heathrow airport remained the same rate till the end of the period.
On the other hand, with 27.2 million people at the beginning in the Heathrow airport and increased considerably almost 48.2 in 2000. Having decreased considerably from 2000 to 2002, the rate suddenly upward and finished with 45.6 in 2003
