Write a letter to a city planning manager about demolition of a historical building in your area and say
– Explain why it shouldn’t be demolished.
– Suggest a future use for this building.
– Recommend a way to raise money for repairs.
Dear Sir,
I am writing this letter with regards to the decision of the city council, to demolish the Sanskrit Library, which was erected in 1820.
This library is part of our city history, many freedom movements were initiated from here by educating the people and providing knowledge to masses. Though books are not in good condition, however, they can be refurbished for readers interested in history. Furthermore, most of the books are in the Sanskrit language, which is rare to find these days.
In my opinion, if the authorities repair and construct this historic library, it can be made available for the students and readers for studying purpose, as there is only one library apart from this in the entire city. So reconstructing this building will be beneficial for society and educational purpose.
Taking nominal fees from the visitors, and also by taking monetary charges by allowing authors and booksellers to have their stalls and shops in this premises money could be raised for the repairing purpose.
I request you to take back the decision of demolishing the library, instead, it could be used for the better purpose of society.
Yours faithfully,
Shreyas Parab
