Dear Asiya
Hope my letter finds you in radiant health and the best of spirits. I was overjoyed when I heard that you are planning a trip to India in the month of August, the time my country experiences heavy rains throughout. I would like to add to your knowledge that it is actually not a pleasant time to visit India.
Firstly, this time of the year in my country is known as Rainy season and every single part of the country experiences heavy rainfall as the monsoon hits at the same time in the south and also entire northern region encounters western disturbances as well. As you told me in previous letter that you are doing research on Indian topography and wants to visit mountainous region such as Manali, Rohtang, Ladakh and so on. It would be risky if we will visit mountains as probability of landslides dramatically increases in this season. Visiting such areas can be a challenge for you especially in monsoons.
I would suggest you to visit India in the month of October because at that time, the country experiences autumn season which is best and glorious season to pay visits to any part of the country. We can plan our itinerary from Kasauli which is bordered by lower Himalayas to Ladakh which falls in the lap of greater Himalayas. We will cover the entire stretch exploring every village so that you can also have a glimpse and taste of various cultures. Moreover, I’ll plan our itinerary in detail which will cover some of the most beautiful places known for its pristine beauty such as Shimla, Manali, Kullu, Spiti valley, Rohtang Valley, Kashmir, Ladakh and Leh. Also, you’ll get an opportunity to experience local cuisines, traditional wears, interaction with local people and best attractions of these places which will also aid yo finish your thesis work with live experiences.
Lastly, if you’ll delay your plan with just 2 months, I assure you those days are going to be memorable days forever and also when you’ll land here either in August or October, you’re going to stay with me at my home. I have spoken to my family about whole plan and about your stay with me. They, too, are eagerly waiting and glad that you are planning a visit to India.
Hope you’ll re-think on my suggestion and do let me know at the earliest, what would you prefer, so that I can make arrangements accordingly.
Hoping to hear from you soon.
Yours lovingly
Alka Bhat.
